Royal Holloway Dance Competition: March 2010

The RHUL Dance Comp was held the day after KCL Dance Soc’s Epic after show party for the dance show PULSE; step in time.. So as you can imagine it was very difficult for a large group of tired, hungover dancers to get up early and once again put on their dancing shoes!
If was a good thing that we made the effort, because:
Jazz – WINNERS
Ballet – Runners Up
Contemporary – 3rd Place
Tap – 3rd Place
A special Mention must go to our very own Lara Holford, who won BEST DANCER OF THE COMPETITION!

Loughborough Dance Competition: February 2010

KCL’s Fusion travelled to Loughborough’s Dance Competition, having missed last year’s competition the group were keen to attend this national competition, and to meet other dancers from approx 20 different Universities who were taking part. This competition is arguably the biggest of the interuniversity competitions in the UK, meaning the skill and quality of the universities competiting were TOP level!
Much fun was had by all and yes…Fusion picked up 3rd Place in the Advanced Contemporary!! Yet another trophy!! WOOP WOOP! 🙂

Warwick “Busta Move” Dance Competition: January 2010
| Following on from last years success at the same competition, KCL’s Fusion entered Contemporary, Hip Hop and Salsa Categories this year. Unfortunately due to a large number of Universities pulling out of the competition, the categories were scrapped, so it was “All Styles against ALL”.We knew we had 3 strong routines of different diciplines, and we managed to come away with the Overall RUNNERS UP TROPHY!!

KCL – Just Dance It Competition: March 2009
The KCL Dance Society hosted our very own dance competition on home soil right here in London, holding the catergories Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Salsa, Hip Hop, and Breakin’. Judged by the dance group D-Clash, (an all female group skilled in various dance styles, formed from the competition Nike Dance Clash), and Andry Oporia who played Wolf in “Into the Hoods” (Zoo Nation). The event was a great success with Universities from all over the UK competing! Congratulations to all who participated, and we hope the winners are enjoying their trophies! Oh and speaking of trophies…

Edingburgh Dance Competition: February 2009

The Edinburgh Dance Competition is one of the most popular competitions held among universities across the UK – averaging about 8 universities competing in each category. The level of competition was extremely high, so we are very proud to come home crowned as Hip Hop Champions 2009! We were officially the new kids on the block with regards to the competitions circuit, so to de-throne Sheffield uni who had won the title the three previous years running, is a massive achievement in itself!

Having choreographed a very obscure dance, we were unsure which category to compete in – we decided on the Jazz category due to the category descriptions. Unfortunately the judges deemed that our performance should have been in the Contemporary category. HOWEVER! we were still placed as runners up! YAY!
