HEY GUYS!!!! Welcome to KCL Dance Society 2021 / 2022 !!

We have sooooo much in store for you all to get involved with, especially since it seems like we are finally getting somewhat away from Covid and it’s many restrictions. Everyone’s health and wellbeing is a top priority for us so rest assured we will be cautious and careful when it comes to what we have planned for this year.

But get ready because we are ready to satisfy everyones dancing needs and cravings that were pushed away over the past year. We are so excited to see you this year! We have been planning lots of exciting events that we cannot wait to share with you in the upcoming weeks.

Make sure to watch this space and keep up to date on our socials so that you don’t miss out on anything!! We will post more information regarding our freshers and welcome week schedule in the forthcoming days!!

Membership
Dance Soc membership is so easy to purchase. It is £20 for the year and means that you can join our competition teams, participate in shows, and access classes at a discount!

COVID-19 Update

Unfortunately, due to the current situation and it’s escalation, we have taken the hard decision to cancel our annual show, Arcadia.
Refunds are currently being processed and should be done automatically.

All future classes have also been cancelled. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for live classes and other exciting (online) activities on our social media!

On 11th of January, we hosted out annual competition: Just Dance It!

We were proud to host amazing teams from Kingston, Queen Mary Dance Company, Warwick, Parts and UCL!

Changed timetable for week 1

Monday (AR1, West Wing, Guys Campus):
Beg. Ballet: 9-10pm
Adv. Ballet: 10-11 pm

Tuesday:
TBC

Wednesday (ARC, Bush House, 8th Floor SE Wing):
Heels: 4-5pm
Salsa: 5-6pm
Bachata: 8-9pm

Thursday (ARC, Bush House, 8th Floor SE Wing):
Jazz: 5-6pm
Stretch & Strength: 6-7pm

Friday (AR3, West Wing, Guys Campus):
Commercial: 5-6pm
Contemporary: 6-7pm

Dance Society voted “Activity Group of the Year 2018/2019”

We are proud to announce that Dance Soc was voted Activity group of the Year at the KCLSU awards!

The awards is given to “the ratified KCLSU student activity group that has contributed the most to the KCLSU community, having gone above and beyond the efforts of other groups to provide for their members, other students and the wider community.”

Thank you to all our members – this would not be possible without you! We are super proud and looking forward to another year of great classes, shows, events and more ?

“This Is 20!” Annual Show

KCL Dance Society’s 20th anniversary annual showcase took place on March 20-22nd 2019 at the iconic Greenwood Theatre.

Our fabulous cast of 2018/19 annual showcase – This Is 20!

We had 150 dancers and 36 choreographers in an entirely student produced show that ran for 3 fantastic nights, with the Friday show being completely sold out!

Following the shows, we also had 3 fantastic afterparties at The Vault, Guy’s Bar, and Patch East.

As always, tickets sales and any proceeds from the show went towards our chosen charities for the year: Green Candle Dance Company and Magpie Dance. This year, we have raised over £7,000 across all three nights! We also held a raffle draw every single night, which was open to dancers and members of the audience to help fundraise and provide the opportunity to win fantastic prizes such as brewery tours, cinema tickets, and restaurant vouchers!

In keeping with our conscious efforts to be environmentally friendly, our programmes were uploaded on Dropbox and available to view in image format on our Facebook event page.
